How Brainztem actually works
The free trial, the workspace, the pricing, and — most importantly — how your data is isolated and what the agents can and cannot do without you.
Quick start
The trial, in four steps
No account, no credit card, no sales call. You enter a website; you get a working, private Brainztem built from it — free for 48 hours.
Go to /start and enter your website. Brainztem reads it live and builds a private trial workspace around your organization — your name, your brand, your content.
Your trial opens on Chat, with your Crew, Inbox, Brain, Tasks, Calendar, Documents, Website, Sources and Academy alongside it, plus a guided setup when you first enter.
Add tasks and notes, earn points, and chat with your agent crew. Everything you do is saved to your trial and carries over if you upgrade.
Save your email so your workspace is bookmarked to you, then start the Workspace plan at $99 a month. Everything from the trial carries over, and paid workspaces don't expire.

Ask your crew for real work, or run any of the 58 everyday tasks. You get 10 messages during the trial; on a plan, chat counts against your Workspace's monthly crew actions.
Crew
The agent team configured for your organization, each with its own job.
Inbox
Customer emails from your own Gmail, with the Email agent's reply drafted into each thread for you to change and send. On a free preview the tab shows what it does and what it needs.
Brain
A knowledge vault seeded from your own website — the pages, facts, and structure of your organization, readable and browsable, with a visual map of how it all connects.
Tasks
A working task board. Add tasks, check them off, hand them to your crew, and earn points as you go — a real, editable slice of the product.
Calendar
A month grid and agenda over every scheduled task, plus your own Google Calendar once it's connected.
Documents
What your crew writes for you: quotes, letters, policies and reports, kept in one place and ready to download.
Website
The site the Website Builder drafted from your brain, as it looks on a phone or a desktop. Ask for a change in plain words, or edit any line yourself.
Sources
The public evidence behind your brain, and where you add what you know: upload your price list or standard terms, and connect the accounts your crew needs.
Academy
A structured curriculum — Foundations, Build your agency, Run the operation, and Power user — that teaches every capability step by step. Browse it free.
A Credibility view also appears when a completed WebsiteCreditScore scan of your domain is found. It includes a link to a StrategyPresentation deck generated from that same scan — your credibility findings, turned into a strategy narrative.
The 48-hour trial
Exactly what the clock means
The rules are simple and enforced in code, so here they are in plain English.
48 hours, counted down live
Every trial workspace expires 48 hours after it's created. The banner at the top of your workspace shows the live countdown.
Your work carries over
Tasks, notes, points, and chat are saved to your trial as you go. Start a plan and it all stays in the same workspace. Nothing is reset.
Then it's read-only, or gone
If you left your email, an expired trial stays readable (read-only) for 30 days. If you didn't, it's deleted when it expires. Abandoned trials don't linger.
Agent chat is capped
You get 10 agent-chat messages during the trial. On a plan, chat counts against your Workspace's monthly crew actions instead.
Pricing & payments
$99 a month, with a clear allowance
The Brainztem Workspace is $99 a month: chat with your crew, the Writing agent for documents, your knowledge brain, and a board of tasks, calendar and pipeline. Add-on agents are priced per month on the pricing page, up to the whole crew at $1,121 a month for a busy shop. Every plan starts with a setup call; at the top of that ladder, the Managed Launch build is your own private instance.
$99 a month, by card
Pay the first month by card through Stripe. Change your plan, update your card, see invoices, or cancel any time in the Stripe billing portal. Changes apply from your next bill.
From $99 to the whole crew
The Workspace alone is $99 a month, and add-on agents start at $9 a month each. The whole crew, the Workspace plus all 18 agents, is $553 a month at Getting started, $743 at Steady and $1,121 at Busy. Start with what you need and change your crew any month.
Three levels, and every agent has its own allowance
Getting started, Steady, and Busy set the pace. The Workspace comes with a monthly allowance of crew actions (chat replies, documents and brain pages), and each agent you add has its own, in its own unit: the number on its pricing card.
A heads-up at 80%, a pause at 100%
We email you when any allowance reaches 80%. At 100%, that agent pauses until the month resets or you move up a level, and the rest of your crew keeps working. Nothing is charged unless you choose it.
Managed Launch agents are billed once live
Add-on agents marked "Managed Launch" need an account, key or connection on your side. They're set up with you on a call and billed only once they're live, never at checkout.
The top of the ladder: the Managed Launch build
Every plan is set up with you on a call. The fullest form is your own private instance, with your own database, hosting and domain, built with you and handed over. It's scoped and priced per project on a call, and you don't need it to use Brainztem; the monthly plan is the usual way in.

Managed Launch add-ons
A Managed Launch is assembled from one catalog of add-ons, scoped with you on the call. The six Foundation items are the core build. Three optional groups extend it: Growth(weekly content engine, email command center, SEO pipeline, review & reputation engine), Authority(grant research & drafting, case-study factory, investor data-room pack), and Operations(invoice automation, document factory, crew scheduling). You pick them on your trial's build sheet; they ride along with your launch payments.
Data & isolation
Where your data lives, and who can touch it
These aren't policy promises — each one describes how the system is built. If a guarantee below isn't enforced in code, it doesn't appear on this page.
Your workspace answers to you
Each business gets its own workspace record. Only the owner, on a signed-in device, can send, change billing, connect keys, or download it. A Managed Launch goes further and builds you a private instance.
Connected keys are encrypted
Keys you connect (like your own Resend key for sending email) are encrypted at rest with AES-256-GCM and only ever shown back to you as a short hint.
The trial is sealed off
Your trial workspace renders only from its own record — by construction it cannot read any other customer's or trial's data. The link itself is the credential, so treat it like a share link.
Server-only database access
Hosted tables run with row-level security enabled and no public policies: the public/anonymous key can read and write nothing. Every access flows through the server.
Instances are access-gated
A hosted instance sits behind an authenticated session gate — every page and API route requires sign-in except the public marketing pages and your own token-addressed trial.
Expired trials don't linger
A trial lasts 48 hours. If you left your email, it stays readable (read-only) for 30 days after it expires. If you didn't, it's deleted when it expires. Paid workspaces don't expire.
Trial pages are not indexed
Trial workspace pages are marked noindex/nofollow, so search engines don't list them. Only someone you give the link to can find yours.
The trial crew can't touch anything
Your trial agents can talk, plan, and draft — but they run with no tools, no file access, and no ability to send: they reason over your workspace and nothing else. There is no code path from a trial conversation to the outside world or to another customer's data.
Payments are cryptographically verified
Every checkout confirmation is signed by Stripe and verified on our server before anything unlocks — a forged "paid" event is rejected, and Stripe's duplicate deliveries can't double-charge you or double-provision your build.
The scanner only reaches public sites
When we read your website, the request is vetted against internal and private network ranges — including through redirects — and refused if it points anywhere but the public internet. The scanner can't be aimed at internal systems.
Sign-ins use signed, expiring tokens
Sessions and magic links are HMAC-signed with constant-time verification and a fixed lifetime — a link can't be forged, reused past expiry, or repurposed — and the sign-in flow never reveals whether an email is on file.
Safety model
Four things the crew never does alone
The agents plan, draft, and prepare constantly — that's the point. But four categories of action always stop and wait for a human, regardless of any mode or setting. The gate is enforced in the code path itself, not in a setting a prompt could talk its way around.
- External communication — emails, posts, anything that reaches a real person
- Money & contracts — any spend or commitment with a dollar sign on it
- Code & infrastructure — deploys, config, integrations
- Irreversible deletes — anything that can't be undone
Questions, answered
What happens when my 48-hour trial expires?
If you left your email, the workspace stays readable (read-only) for 30 days after it expires, so you can still pick a plan. If you didn't, it's deleted when it expires, tasks, notes, points, and chat included. Once you're on a plan, your workspace doesn't expire.
What exactly carries over when I upgrade?
Everything you did in the trial: your tasks, notes, points, and agent chat history. When you start a plan from your trial, the plan attaches to that same workspace. Paid workspaces don't expire.
Is my trial workspace private?
Your trial lives at a unique, unguessable link — the link is the credential, so anyone you share it with can view it. It renders only from its own record (it cannot touch any other customer's data), and the page is marked noindex so search engines won't list it.
How many agent-chat messages do I get?
10 messages during the free trial. On a plan, chat counts against your Workspace's monthly crew actions, and a specialist's replies count against that agent's own allowance.
How is the Workspace plan billed?
$99 a month, paid by card through Stripe. Add-on agents are priced per month on the pricing page, from $9 each, and the whole crew at the Busy level is $1,121 a month. Agents marked "Managed Launch" are set up with you on a call and billed only once they're live. What happens if I use up my monthly allowance?
Every allowance is its own: the Workspace's crew actions, and each agent's monthly number in its own unit. We email you when one reaches 80%. At 100%, that agent pauses until the month resets or you move up a level, and the rest of your crew keeps working. An upload is checked whole before it runs, so a bank export bigger than what's left this month is never half sorted. Nothing extra is charged unless you choose it.
What is the Managed Launch?
Every plan is a managed launch: it starts with a setup call where we build your brain and connect what your crew needs, and agents marked "Managed Launch" are set up with you on a call. The fullest form is your own private instance, with your own database, hosting and domain, built with you and scoped and priced per project on a call. You don't need the private instance to use Brainztem; the monthly plan is the usual way in.
Can the agents send emails or spend money on their own?
No. Chat has no tools: it can't send, delete, buy, or browse. Outreach emails wait in your outbox until you approve each one and click send, and they go out from your own email account. The crew can't spend or move money, and only you can delete pages, tasks, or drafts. See the Safety & approvals page for the full model.
Where does my data live after I buy?
In your own workspace record. Only you, the signed-in owner, can send, change billing, connect keys, or download it. Hosted tables run with row-level security and no public access policies, so all reads and writes go through the server. Connected keys are encrypted at rest, and you can download your whole workspace as one Markdown file any time from Plan & billing. A Managed Launch builds you a private instance instead.
How do I get in touch after starting a trial?
